What happens at these events?
Our events are designed to enable natural social interactions among groups of people that have been pre-matched based on various dimensions. If you attend one of our events, you'll be placed in a group and your group will perform an activity together. It may be a scavenger hunt, or a murder mystery party activity, or a hike, or a trivia game. We have fun planning our events so that participants have a good time. We will plan a variety of different events and activities in order to keep things interesting for participants. In addition, we want to have folks participate in a series of events so they can have repeated exposure to the other participants.
How will I know who my match is, if I'm in a group of potential matches?
The fun part about answering this question is that I can't answer it for you. You'll need to answer it for yourself. There is no way to match for chemistry or attraction. We'll put you in a situation where you'll be exposed to potential matches, but ultimately you'll be the one who decides who you have chemistry with, who is interesting to you, who you want to get to know at a deeper level.
What if I don't like the kinds of activities planned in your events?
That will be great feedback to give us, so that we can organize other events with activities that you do like. We know we can't please everyone. People have different tastes and preferences. We want to offer a good variety of activities and events so that people can feel comfortable, have fun, and connect.
Are there rules of engagement for the events?
Yes, we believe strongly in our process and we want participants to observe our rules. These rules were created very thoughtfully, and their purpose is to help our matching process be as successful as possible. When you sign up to attend an event, you'll be given a set of rules and guidelines to follow. I won't list them all here, but I'll share that some of the rules have to do with safety, others are about alcohol consumption, and others are about sharing contact information with other participants. We'll continue to refine our rules as we learn from our events.
Will Filled Cups events be held in my city?
At first, our events will be held in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding areas. In the future, we would like to expand to other cities. For now, If you're not local to the Charlotte area, please enjoy our educational content, resources and blog.
